One of our raw materials, carnauba wax, comes from Brazil and is produced there by one of the largest carnauba wax producers, Carnauba Do Brasil. Other important manufacturers include Foncepi, Pontes and others. Carnauba wax is used in a wide range of products that we use every day. Well-known applications include floor care products, car wax, confectionery, cosmetics such as lipsticks, chewing gum and pharmaceutical tablets. To operate the carnauba wax industry in the long term and therefore sustainably, it is important to maintain the carnauba palms in a healthy condition. Carnauba palms are not grown on plantations but are naturally maintained and allowed to grow in their natural habitat in the wild. The trees provide not only wax but also building materials for roofs, shade for plants, protection against erosion and much more. It is no coincidence that they are called "the trees of life".
The tree and the wax
For the preservation of carnauba palms, one thing is particularly important: maintaining and caring for them through local farmers. They have the knowledge and skills required to work with the carnauba palm and preserve it in its fully grown state of up to 14 metres in height. The most important part of the palm for wax production is its leaves. Only a few leaves are harvested each year to extract carnauba wax, ensuring that the palm is not damaged. When this process is carried out correctly, new leaves grow back within the same year.

The leaves of the palm contain a wax powder that later becomes our carnauba wax. For optimal extraction of the powder, the leaves are dried and then crushed. The following production steps involve melting the wax. Depending on the type, dust from open leaves or closed leaves (buds) is used. Subsequent steps include bleaching and filtration processes. Depending on the type, products can be ordered in USDA Organic or conventional quality.
