Carnauba wax from DistrEbution GmbH - imported from Brazil.
One of our raw materials, carnauba wax, comes from Brazil and is produced there by one of the largest producers Carnauba Do Brasil. Other important other producers are for example Foncepi, Pontes or others. Carnauba wax is used in a variety of products that we use every day. Well known products are floor care, car wax, sweets, cosmetics such as lipsticks, chewing gum and pharmaceutical tablets. In order to run the carnauba wax business in the long term, and thus also sustainably, it is important to keep the carnauba palms in a healthy condition, because carnauba palms do not grow in plantations but are naturally cared for and allowed to grow in their natural habitat in the wild. The trees donate not only wax but also building material for roofs, shade for plants, protection against erosion and much more. It is no coincidence that they are called "the trees of life".
The tree and the wax
One thing above all is important for the preservation of the carnauba palms: the conservation and care by local farmers. They have the knowledge and the skills to work the carnauba palm and to maintain it in its full-grown state of 14 meters height. The most important part of the palm for the wax are its leaves. A few of the leaves are harvested each year to avoid destroying the palm, only a limited number are harvested to extract carnauba wax. If this is done correctly, more leaves will grow back in the same year.

The leaves of the palm tree contain a wax powder, which will later be our carnaub wax. For an optimal extraction of the powder, the leaves are dried and crushed afterwards. The wax is then melted in the manufacturing steps. Depending on the type, dusts from open or closed leaves (buds) are used. This is followed by brightening and filtration steps. Depending on the type, goods can be ordered in USDA Organic or conventional quality.
