Crystal dipping compound TM 5262 S is a high-quality product for coating candles with a thin, crystal-like structure. This crystal dipping compound is a colourless effect wax. When used on coloured candles, the colour of the candle shines through the dipping compound. You can colour the wax as desired or use it on coloured candles.
To achieve the snow crystal structure, the wax should not be too hot when applied. A dipping temperature of 75-80°C is ideal for achieving optimal results.
1. Preparation
Distribute the wax into clean, deep glasses or cans (one container per colour) and carefully melt it in a water bath. Smoothie glass bottles or traditional tin cans work perfectly as containers. No water should get into the bottles/cans and the water should be just below boiling point.
2. Adding colour (optional)
Darker candles can also be dipped into uncoloured wax to create the crystal effect.
Fully melt and stir our candle colour (0.1-0.2%; up to 1% for neon colours) into the liquid wax at approx. 75°C. Important: When colouring, some experimentation may be necessary to achieve the desired colour result. The colour becomes less intense as the wax cools. You can, of course, work with several layers when using dipping wax.
Attention: Our colours are VERY concentrated - it is best to start with only 2-3 pastilles and test the result.
For Dip Dye candles, we recommend our neon colours for more vibrant shades. Neon candle colours consist of pigments, which makes them particularly suitable for dipping wax (if mixed directly into the candle wax, there is a risk that the wick becomes blocked by the pigments). For pastel shades, our regular base candle colours are ideal.
Our colours are also perfect for mixing!
3. Dipping
Dip the candles into the coloured wax at 75-80°C. Allow each layer to dry before dipping again, changing colours or placing/hanging the candles to dry on baking paper. While drying, you can watch the crystals form and spread.
4. Giving as a gift or lighting
Your Dip Dye candles are perfect as a super cute decoration. Your coated candles with a cool crystal effect also make a great gift.
This creative activity is also a great project to do with children! (:
