Our Soy Wax C3 is perfect for pouring candles in jars or tins. We explain how it works here:
First, make sure to cover your workspace with a towel or something similar. Prepare everything you need for a water bath, as well as the soy wax, wicks and jars/tins, and you are ready to go. You can easily preheat the jars/tins by placing them on a radiator while the wax is melting.
We recommend starting with a small amount first - practice makes perfect!
1. Melting
Heat the wax to a temperature of 71 to max. 93°C. Stir regularly while melting, but do not stir too vigorously or too quickly. A water bath works best for this. (A Thermomix also works very well - however, it must be cleaned very thoroughly after use with wax!)
2. Adding colour and/or fragrance
If desired, fully dissolve and stir the colour (0.1-0.2%) or fragrance (max. 6%) into the liquid wax at approx. 80°C. Important: Always colour the wax first before adding fragrance. When colouring, some experimentation may be necessary to achieve the desired colour result. The colour becomes less intense as the wax cools.

3. Pouring
Slowly reduce the temperature to 50-60°C. It is best to use a thermometer to check. The surroundings and containers should not be too cold and the wax should not be too hot. It is best to attach the wicks to the bottom of the tins/glasses using wax adhesive tabs. Do not pour the wax into the tins/glasses too quickly. Air bubbles can easily be removed by gently tapping the container on the surface from time to time. To stabilise the wicks while cooling, place a fork over the tin/glass to support the wick.
4. Topping up
If small cracks or uneven areas appear, simply pour a thin additional layer of wax after the candle has hardened slightly.
5. Hardening
Allow the candles to harden for 24 hours at room temperature. Soy wax candles are often already hardened after a few hours, unlike paraffin candles. Nevertheless, we recommend waiting a little longer.
6. Giving as a gift or lighting
Your homemade candles are a wonderful way to make someone happy, or you can light them and enjoy them yourself. If you used fragrance and have leftover wax, you can easily make wax melts from it - simply pour the remaining wax into small moulds (e.g. chocolate moulds).
