What are natural waxes?
Natural waxes are solid to soft raw materials of natural origin. They come from plant or animal sources and are used in many areas as functional raw materials. They are based on renewable or natural raw materials. Depending on the type, natural waxes can serve as consistency agents, protective layers, film formers, hardening agents, or fragrance carriers. That is why they are in demand in candles, cosmetics, care products, and technical applications.
Soy wax for candles
Soy wax is a plant-based, vegan wax made from hydrogenated soya oil. It is especially commonly used for scented candles in jars, as it can be processed well with fragrance oils and colourants and supports an even burn. Soy wax is generally soft and therefore only limitedly suitable for freestanding candles. One exception is Kerasoy 4120, which has been developed specifically for pillar candles.

Rapeseed wax for candles
Rapeseed wax is a plant-based wax based on rapeseed oil and a popular choice for sustainable candles. It is often used for tealights, pillar candles, and scented candles, as it can burn cleanly and offers a good burn time.
Beeswax for candles
Beeswax is a classic natural wax and is very popular because of its attractive appearance and warm, natural scent. It is used for candles, cosmetics, and technical applications, and is particularly interesting when a natural look is desired. Stearin for stable candles
In the candle sector, “stearin” is often used as a general term for wax raw materials containing stearic acid. It provides shape stability and a characteristic crystalline surface, making it suitable for smooth, stable, and drip-free candles. Our stearins are purely plant-based, with the only exception being Tefacid 1 VL H, which is derived from tallow.

Plant-based waxes for vegan formulations
