natural plant wax
Candelilla Wax
The wax is extracted from the leaves of the candelilla bush. The plant forms a wax layer on its leaves to protect itself against heat and environmental influences. For the extraction, the leaves are boiled. The wax is then skimmed off the surface and cleaned in several steps. Candelilla wax is a hard and brittle and has a yellowish-brown colour. With a melting point of 69 - 73 °C, it is harder than beeswax but softer than carnauba wax.
Applications
Due to its properties, candelilla wax is mainly used in the food industry and in cosmetics. It is an excellent separating and coating agent. It ensures that products are protected and ingredients do not stick together. Candelilla wax is also a popular coating for paper, candles, metalworking, rubbers, paint, ink or hot melt adhesives and numerous other products. It also provides shine, a good consistency and protects against moisture. In cosmetics, it is a skin-friendly texturiser and is used as a thickener in creams, as well as a consistency enhancer in lip balm and lipstick.
