Fluorescein – Fluorescent Dye for Water Coloring and Leak Detection
Fluorescein, also known as Uranine or sodium salt of Fluorescein, is a highly effective, water-soluble dye in powder form. Thanks to its bright fluorescence under UV light, Uranin allows for easy visual tracking of even the smallest water leaks and makes flow paths and leakage points clearly visible. The dark red powder dissolves quickly in water and gives it a yellow-green color. Its strong fluorescence ensures excellent visibility even at low concentrations.
Fluorescein is commonly used for leak detection, pressure testing, flat roof inspections, flow analysis, and watercourse marking. It is also popular in creative projects, DIY and Halloween decorations, as well as in the cosmetics and personal care industries – for example in bath additives, shampoos, and bubble baths. It is also used in technical products such as radiator antifreeze for detecting leaks.
How to Use Fluorescein
Fluorescein is ready to use and easy to handle. For most applications, a dosage of 10 to 100 mg per liter of water is recommended. Simply add the powder to water and stir until fully dissolved. Alternatively, a concentrated solution can be prepared and used as needed. The bright color allows for straightforward flow tracking and quick identification of leaks.
