What Is African Black Soap and How Is It Used?

African Black Soap is a traditional African soap valued for its cleansing and skin-soothing properties. It is often used to reduce skin impurities, provide moisture, and enhance the skin’s natural glow.

How to Process the Black Raw Soap

1. Preparation: Cut the desired amount of melt-and-pour soap into smaller pieces.

2. Melting: The raw soap can be melted in smaller pieces using a water bath at approximately 75°C or directly in its 1 kg packaging in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Stir occasionally until fully melted.

3. Customization: Add colors, fragrances, flowers, or glitter as desired. Up to 3% additional ingredients can be mixed into the soap base, with a maximum of 1% fragrances.

4. Pouring: Carefully pour the melted soap into your chosen molds. Lightly spray the surface with rubbing alcohol to prevent air bubbles on the soap’s surface.

5. Cooling and Hardening: The finished soap mixture can harden in its packaging or be poured into suitable soap molds. Allow the soap to cool and fully harden before removing it from the mold. The soap bars release more easily if left in a cool place for 24 hours. Once fully hardened, they can be packaged as needed.
