Outdoor candle wick, flame bowl wick FSDR
This wick was developed specifically for outdoor use. It is an unwaxed flame bowl wick made of 100% certified cotton tested according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. It consists of a woven cotton coating and a number of center threads determined by the variant. The wick produces a large, wind-resistant flame ideal for outdoor use.
Thanks to its low requirements, the wick can be used with any of our candle waxes. Both candle leftovers without wicks and new waxes can be used. Our natural waxes Soy Wax NatureWax® C-1, NatureWax® C-3 or our rapeseed wax are also particularly popular. The wicks are not treated with borax and are tested according to RAL standards.
The wick has no burning direction and can be used universally for flame bowls, bowl candles, fire tins, party lights, oil lamps and garden torches including bamboo torches.
The wicks are made in Germany.
Usage:
For outdoor candles, you can pre-wax the wick and place the candle wick in the desired container. Then pour the wax into the mould or fill the container with wax pellets. To prevent the wick from moving during production, you can fix it to the bottom of the container with wax (e.g. with our wax adhesive plates for candles) or a hot glue gun.
For garden torches or oil lamps, make sure your torch or oil lamp is suitable for use with a cotton wick. Cut the wick to the desired length and follow your torch manufacturer's instructions.
Varieties:
We offer the outdoor candle wick in different varieties each in 10cm and 1m length. The varieties differ from each other in their diameters. Generally, the larger the diameter of the wick, the larger the diameter of the candle can be. If a wick is chosen that is too narrow, the candle cannot burn completely. For outdoor candles, in addition to the diameter, the height and material of the container is also essential. If your container is high, the heat can be retained more effectively within the container and you can choose a thinner wick.
Example: For candles with a diameter and height of approx. 10 cm, a FSDR 6 is suitable.
If you order more than one wick, you will receive the wick in one piece. That way you can simply buy 3 x 10 cm for a 30 cm wick.

Notes:
Our flame bowl wicks are not suitable for all garden torches/oil lamps. In some cases, the coating burns prior to the center threads when the heat is too strong and the wick thus loses its stability. There are many factors that have an influence on the burning behaviour of a candle. Among the most important are the diameter of the candle and the height of the container. Test your candle project with our wicks before ordering a larger number of wicks.
