We offer here high-quality rice bran wax (rice wax). The wax is a very good vegan alternative to the generally known beeswax. Rice bran wax is a vegetable wax, which is obtained from the bran of rice (Oryza sativa) by extraction.

Properties of rice bran wax:

• Rice bran wax is a yellowish white to orange-brown substance
• Rice wax consists mainly of fatty acid esters of higher fatty alcohols, some palmitic acid & ceryl alcohol
• The wax contains free fatty acids as well as squalene & phospholipids.
• The wax content is usually higher than 96 %. 
• The melting point is between 77 - 86 °C
• saponification number is between 75 -120 
• Acid value is between 2 - 8 and the iodine value is about 10 - 25.
• Rice bran wax can be easily deodorized and bleached.

Application of rice bran wax:

Rice bran wax is mainly used for cosmetic applications. The main application is the use as non-melting peeling wax, whose particle size distribution can be adjusted in a wide range.

Microtisation of the rice bran wax is achieved by dispersion in water-solvent mixtures at elevated temperature, subsequent cooling, filtration and drying. Microtised wax particles are obtained over a wide particle size spectrum. Rice bran wax is also a source of policosanols with fatty alcohols of 24 to 36 carbon atoms per molecule.
