Wool Alcohol (Lanolin Alcohol)
Wool alcohol, also known as Lanolin Alcohol, is a natural conditioning agent derived from high-quality wool wax. It contains valuable components such as sterols and other natural alcohols that leave the skin pleasantly soft without feeling heavy or sticky. It is a complex mixture of cholesterol, lanosterol, additional sterols, and aliphatic alcohols. The cholesterol content is at least 30%. Compared to classic lanolin, it feels lighter on the skin, making cosmetic products more pleasant to use. The product comes in solid pastilles that range from pale yellow to orange and has a melting point of approximately 56 °C.
In addition to wool alcohol, we also offer classic lanolin.
Applications
This ingredient is suitable for creams, lotions, ointments, cosmetics such as lip care or lipsticks, hair care products, facial care, and baby care. It ensures that the skin remains soft and supple and that products have a pleasant, smooth texture.
Processing
Wool alcohol is gently warmed together with the oil-based components of a product – this phase is called the oil phase. This allows the ingredient to distribute evenly without overheating.
Depending on the formulation, it is used in amounts ranging from 1 to 50 %. Lower amounts make the product lighter, while higher amounts make it richer, more nourishing, and more stable.
Storage
The product should be stored in a dry place at room temperature, in a well-sealed container.
