Glycasol - Carrier Oil for Room Fragrances & Reed Diffusers

Glycasol is a plant-based glycerine solvent from the manufacturer Alteqo in the Netherlands. It is ideally suited as a carrier fluid for essential oils and fragrance oils, making it perfect for the production of room fragrance products. Due to its very low evaporation rate and its nearly neutral inherent odour, the fragrance can develop particularly evenly without being masked by the solvent. This makes Glycasol a high-quality alternative to conventional diffuser bases. The diffuser base can be easily mixed with almost all fragrance oils and essential oils. It ensures that the fragrance is released continuously and evenly into the room air via the diffuser reeds. As a result, mixtures with Glycasol are particularly well suited for reed diffusers as well as refill solutions for room fragrance dispensers.

Application Concentration

For reed diffusers, a mixing ratio of approximately 75% Glycasol to 25% fragrance oil is generally recommended. This ratio can be adjusted depending on the desired fragrance intensity.

Preparation

Simply add the fragrance oil or essential oil to the desired amount of Glycasol and mix well. Then fill into a diffuser container and insert the diffuser reeds.

Fragrances and Room Scents

Glycasol is particularly well suited as a carrier fluid for fragrances. Due to its slow evaporation, the scent is released continuously and evenly. The fragrance profile remains stable over a longer period. Ideal for reed diffusers, room fragrance devices or fragrance oil blends.

Household Cleaners

Glycasol supports the effectiveness of surfactants and improves the solvency of cleaning formulations. This allows grease, oil and soap residues to be removed particularly effectively.

Polishing Agents and Surface Treatment

The slow evaporation extends the working time when polishing or smoothing surfaces. At the same time, Glycasol can give materials additional gloss.

Textile, Leather and Film Treatment

Thanks to its neutral pH value, Glycasol is particularly gentle on materials and is suitable for applications on textiles, paper or leather.

Chemical Properties

Glycasol (solketal, isopropylidene glycerin) is a clear, colourless and almost odourless liquid with very versatile solubility properties. It can combine both water-soluble and many organic substances and therefore serves as a universal solvent in numerous applications.

The product is made from glycerine of natural, renewable origin, obtained from non-GMO plants. With a neutral pH value of approximately 7.2 and a very low evaporation rate, Glycasol is particularly suitable for applications where long-lasting and even release of active ingredients or fragrance is desired.

Safe to Use

Glycasol is considered harmless to health. It is non-toxic, non-bioaccumulative, non-mutagenic and non-reprotoxic. In addition, it does not cause skin irritation. Only direct contact with the eyes may cause irritation.

Notes

Glycasol should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in a tightly closed container. On request, we also supply Glycasol in cosmetic grade (INCI: isopropylidene glycerin).
