Rapeseed Wax 5761 Pastilles – Plant-Based Candle Wax
Rapeseed Wax 5761 is a vegan, plant-based candle wax in a practical pastille form. It is particularly suitable for making solid, freestanding candles such as pillar candles, votive candles, moulded candles, bubble candles and decorative candles with a textured surface.
The wax consists of a carefully formulated blend of hardened and partially hardened rapeseed oil, together with a small proportion of high-melting speciality waxes. It contains no mineral-oil paraffin and is free from animal-derived ingredients. Rapeseed Wax 5761 is manufactured in Germany. The drop point is between 57 and 61 °C.
Thanks to its smooth surface and slight contraction as it cools, cast candles can generally be removed from the mould easily. The natural beige to creamy white base colour gives the finished candles a warm, natural appearance. The wax can be coloured with candle dyes and combined with fragrance oils.

Application
Rapeseed Wax 5761 is processed by pouring and is suitable for a wide range of candle shapes. It delivers particularly good results for freestanding pillar candles, votive candles, moulded candles, bubble candles and candles with elaborate surfaces.
For melting, we recommend indirect heating in a bain-marie. The pastilles are easy to measure and allow the required amount of wax to be prepared evenly.
Rapeseed Wax 5761 can be coloured with candle dyes. Please note that rapeseed wax has a natural colour of its own, meaning that candle dyes produce more subtle, pastel-like shades than they do in paraffin, for example. This characteristic can be used to create beautiful candles in harmonious pastel shades. A higher dosage is generally required for stronger colours.
The wax can also be used for making scented candles. Suitable fragrance oils are absorbed well. When selecting the wick, it is essential to ensure that a suitable wick is used. For initial tests, we recommend, for example, round wicks from the BWR range.
Before larger-scale production, the wick type, wick size, colour and fragrance dosage, as well as the pouring temperature, should be tested using a small sample candle. The burning behaviour depends, among other things, on the candle diameter, shape, wick, colour and fragrance dosage, as well as the processing method.
Processing Instructions
- Melt the wax slowly and indirectly in a bain-marie.
- Avoid overheating and prolonged, unnecessary heating.
- When adding colour and fragrance oil, always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
- Adjust the pouring temperature, cooling conditions and, if necessary, any topping-up to the mould being used.
- Always carry out a burn test before starting series production.
Storage
Rapeseed wax should be stored in a dry, cool place protected from light. This product is also available in granules.
