Metal Wick Tabs

Our wick taps are a practical accessory for candle making. They hold the wick in an upright position and prevent it from floating in liquid wax, thus extending the burning time of candles and tea lights.

These wick sustainer tabs have a diameter of 15mm and can be used for waxed round and flat wicks with a diameter of up to about 3mm. With the help of these useful wick holders, the lower end of wicks with direction can be marked. They can be used to make ready-to-use wicks from self-cut sections of coiled wicks, such as our spooled wick STG. In addition, cuttings of long wicks can also be turned into new wicks. 

Usage

In order to attach the wick feet to the wicks, the wicks should be cut to the desired length and unwaxed wicks should be waxed first. Next, the wicks can be threaded through the metal bases. It is important to pay attention to the direction of the wick at this step. To secure a wick, squeeze the hole of the metal foot, for example with a small pair of pliers, and clamp the wick firmly in place. The wick should be visible from below without affecting the stand. If the wick has been inserted too far, it can be shortened now. When squeezing, the hole of the wick holder should not be closed completely, as this can restrict the function of the wick. To attach the wicks to the bottom of the vessel, you can use our wax adhesive plates.

Notes

Wicks with metal bases cannot be used to pull candles. There are many factors that have an influence on the burning behaviour of a candle. The main ones include the type of wax, the melting point of the wax, the thickness of the candle, and the addition of colour and scents. Test your candle project with our wicks before ordering a large number of wicks.
