Organic Carnauba Wax T1 Prime Yellow – Premium Wax from Brazil
Carnauba wax T1 is the purest plant-based hard wax, obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm (Copernicia cerifera). With a melting point of 82–86 °C, it is the hardest natural wax and ideal for demanding applications in food, cosmetics, and surface care.
Organic Quality
This carnauba wax is organic, kosher, halal, vegan, and free from additives. This makes it an especially environmentally friendly and natural choice for anyone who values ecological sustainability and purely natural products.
Origin & Extraction: Sustainable and Gentle
The carnauba palm protects itself from drying out by a natural wax layer on its leaves. For T1 wax, only young leaves are harvested by hand without damaging the tree. The wax is extracted by mechanical threshing, cleaned, and filtered multiple times to guarantee the highest purity. Afterwards, it is dripped or poured onto a cooled surface or special rollers. Upon cooling, the wax solidifies and forms thin, brittle flakes – the typical scales. We offer carnauba wax in the following qualities:
Type | Colour | Extraction | Properties | Applications |
Organic T1 | Prime Yellow / Primagelb | Unopened, young leaves | Highest purity and certified organic quality | Food and cosmetics |
T1 | Prime Yellow / Primagelb | Unopened, young leaves | Highest purity | Food (25 kg only) and cosmetics |
T3 | Light Fat Grey / Hellfettgrau | Outer leaves after weather exposure | Medium purity | Cosmetics and industrial applications |
T4 | Fat Grey / Fettgrau | Outer leaves after weather exposure | Fewer processing steps, more natural | Industrial applications |
Applications: Versatile and Vegan
1. Food Industry (E903)
- Coating agent for confectionery: Prevents sticking of chewing gum, gummy bears, and chocolate – vegan alternative to beeswax.
- Preservation of fresh fruit: Protective layer on citrus fruits, apples, and pears against mould and moisture loss.
- Coffee beans & hard cheese: Extends shelf life and preserves flavours through a water-repellent barrier.
Note: In food products, carnauba is labelled as E903.
2. Cosmetics
- Stabiliser in lipsticks, mascaras, and moisturisers
- Vegan substitute for beeswax, especially in natural cosmetics and DIY products
Note: In cosmetics, carnauba is indicated as Copernicia Cerifera Cera.
3. Technical Applications
- Care and protection: Carnauba wax is used in car waxes, polishes, furniture and wood care products, as well as shoe creams to protect surfaces from abrasion, dirt, and moisture.
- Gloss and finishing: It gives various materials, particularly wood, a unique, long-lasting shine and creates a scratch-resistant surface.
What is the difference between Carnauba Wax EU Organic and Carnauba Wax USDA Organic?
Both the EU Organic label (European Union) and the USDA Organic label (USA) denote an ecologically produced product. Both certifications require that the carnauba wax is obtained from controlled organic cultivation, without the use of synthetic pesticides or genetically modified organisms. Products with EU Organic or USDA Organic certification are traceable and subject to regular inspections. The aim of both certificates is to promote environmental protection and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.
However, the two labels differ in details of regulations and certification processes:
For carnauba wax, USDA Organic permits the use of hydrogen peroxide (peroxide) for bleaching, whereas according to EU Organic guidelines such bleaching is prohibited. For this reason, USDA Organic carnauba wax may not be labelled organic within the EU. This results in EU organic carnauba wax displaying a more natural colour and texture.
If unsure, when purchasing, customers should ensure the product bears the EU Organic label.
Notes
No nutritional information is available for carnauba wax, as it is used exclusively as a food additive and is not consumed as a foodstuff in its own right or as an essential component of a foodstuff. Carnauba wax should be stored dry, cool and protected from light. Due to its natural origin, properties such as colour may vary slightly.Buy Organic Carnauba Wax at DistrEbution
