The leaves are harvested without damaging the palm by cutting only selected leaves during the dry season, while sparing the trunk. This enables the plant to regenerate and ensures the long-term use of the resource. Harvesting usually takes place two to three times annually with sufficient intervals to avoid weakening the palm.
