Yeast Flakes – Inactive Nutritional Yeast

Inactive nutritional yeast flakes are dried yeast flakes made from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast). The light beige yeast flakes are produced through a drying process, which inactivates the yeast cells, making them unsuitable for baking or fermentation.

Nutritional yeast flakes are particularly popular in vegan and vegetarian cooking. They have a savoury, rich flavour with a slightly nutty note and a natural umami flavour reminiscent of cheese. This makes them an ideal vegan Parmesan alternative, adding delicious savoury flavour to pasta, salads, vegetable dishes and many other meals.
