Spirulina is a blue-green microalgae that grows in fresh water. It is used in various foods due to its positive properties. Our spirulina powder is naturally vegan and free from additives, colourings and preservatives. The vibrant green colour is completely natural and is due to the high chlorophyll content.

What is spirulina powder good for?

Spirulina is a natural source of protein and minerals. It contains numerous vitamins. Thanks to this nutrient density, it can enhance a variety of foods such as pasta, snacks, drinks and even ice cream. Spirulina is therefore often referred to as a versatile ‘superfood’. Thanks to its practical powder form, spirulina can be added to many foods and is the ideal food colouring to naturally colour food green.

Spirulina powder is also used in some animal feed, for example for fish, dogs and cats.

What does spirulina smell and taste like?

Spirulina has a characteristic odour of algae and tastes mildly of protein (umami). If you don't like the taste, you can mask it with other intense flavours. For example, as an ingredient in smoothies or juices.

How much spirulina per day?

The recommended daily dose of spirulina powder is 3 to 5 grams. We recommend starting with smaller quantities. As the powder is water-soluble, taking spirulina is very simple and easy to integrate into everyday life. It can be conveniently drunk with a glass of water, smoothie or juice or enjoyed with a yoghurt, porridge, bowl or muesli.

Cultivation and processing

Our spirulina powder comes from open ponds in Asia. After harvesting, the algae are gently dried at low temperatures and processed into powder. We sell the pure powder form. Spirulina algae can also be processed into tablets or capsules. The cultivation of spirulina has a positive impact on the environment, as carbon dioxide is bound and oxygen is produced.
