High-Quality Stearic Acid for Cosmetics & Candle Making - MASCID® 1800

MASCID® 1800 is a high-quality, triple-pressed stearic acid for the production of stable cosmetic products and professional candles. It provides creamy textures in emulsions while improving hardness, opacity and burning behaviour of candles. MASCID 1800 has a comparatively higher proportion of palmitic acid (approx. 64%) and a content of approx. 36% stearic acid.

For Cosmetic Applications

Important note: Cosmetic quality applies only to the 25 kg containers (original manufacturer packaging).

Why MASCID® 1800 for cosmetics?

The excellent refatting, smoothing and soothing properties make stearic acid the ideal conditioning ingredient for sensitive skin. As a rheology modifier, it ensures the ideal consistency in high-quality cosmetic formulations.

For Candle Making

Properties as candle wax ("stearin")

  • Melts at 54–57 °C – ideal for pouring temperatures and long burn time
  • Dimensionally stable – withstands high temperatures (e.g. summer heat) without deformation
  • Matt & crystalline – opaque surface with a characteristic fine crystal structure
  • Enhances colour intensity – intensifies the effect of candle dyes
  • Minimal dripping & sooting – with the correct wick selection
  • Natural wax – main component or additive for candles

In candle making, stearic acid is commonly referred to as stearin. It serves as a main component or additive for wax candles and ensures professional results with a matt surface and stable shape.

To achieve an even stronger crystallisation effect, which is typical of stearic acid, MASCID 1802 (with a higher stearic acid content) can be used in candles.
