Carnauba Wax T1 – Natural Premium Wax from Brazil

Carnauba Wax T1 is the purest plant-based hard wax, obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm (Copernicia cerifera). With a melting point of 82–86 °C, it is the hardest natural wax and ideal for demanding applications in food, cosmetics, and surface care. We offer carnauba wax in the following grades:

Applications: Versatile and Vegan

1. Food Industry (E903)

  • Coating agent for confectionery: Prevents chewing gum, gummy sweets, and chocolate from sticking – a vegan alternative to beeswax.
  • Preservation of fresh fruit: Protective layer on citrus fruits, apples, and pears against mould and moisture loss.
  • Coffee beans & hard cheese: Increases shelf life and preserves flavour by forming a water-repellent barrier.

Note: In food products, carnauba is labelled as E903.

2. Cosmetics

  • Stabiliser in lipsticks, mascara, and moisturising creams
  • Vegan alternative to beeswax, especially in natural cosmetics and DIY products

The INCI name for carnauba wax in cosmetics is: Copernicia Cerifera Cera.

3. Technical Applications

  • Car care: Component in car waxes and polishes for scratch-resistant, glossy surfaces
  • Gloss enhancer: Carnauba wax gives furniture surfaces, wooden floors, musical instruments, and other wood surfaces a unique shine
  • Moisture protection: Protects wood, leather, and other materials thanks to its water-repellent properties

What Advantages Does Carnauba Wax in Powder Form Offer?

Carnauba wax is usually obtained and sold in flake form. By grinding these flakes, a fine powder is produced, which offers several practical advantages:

  • Easier dosing: The fine powder can be measured and dosed more precisely.
  • Better distribution: The powder distributes particularly evenly, which is especially beneficial for fine or sensitive formulations.
  • Faster processing: When heated, the powder dissolves more quickly than solid flakes.

Carnauba Wax Emulsion

Carnauba Wax T1 Primagelb Powder can be processed into a stable emulsion by adding suitable emulsifiers such as cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol. This emulsion is water-soluble and therefore enables a simple and efficient application, as the otherwise laborious melting step is eliminated, significantly easing the processing.

During the manufacturing process, the finely ground carnauba wax and emulsifiers are heated and mixed with water while stirring to form a fine, homogeneous dispersion. The fine grain size of the powder contributes to the rapid and even distribution of the wax in the emulsifier-water mixture. The emulsion thus enables a wide range of applications in product development where solid carnauba wax would be unsuitable.

Notes

Please note that this product meets food-grade requirements only in 25 kg packaging. Due to its natural origin, properties such as colour may vary slightly. Carnauba wax should be stored dry, cool and protected from light.
